In 1980, MartinLogan's founders Gayle Martin Sanders and Ron Logan Sutherland developed the company's first electrostatic speaker in their Lawrence, Kansas headquarters. By the time of the 1983 CES Consumer Electronics Show, they had developed a full-range hybrid electrostatic loudspeaker they called the Monolith.
